2004 QUALIFYING PROCEDURES

Section 1. Regional Qualifying Events

All current dues-paid members of the Professional Disc Golf Association are eligible to qualify for the Championship by attending any of the designated Regional Qualifiers. 

The top five (5) overall scores in the Open Division will earn the right to compete in the 2004 US Championship. Any player finishing in the top five who has qualified at an earlier event, or who has received an exemption, will be excluded. Players shooting the next best scores will become eligible. Any players tied for the last qualifying positon will each become eligible for entry.

Other divisions may be eligible to qualify if they are competing during the same days and on the same course layouts as those playing in the Open Division. This is to be determined by each tournament director at his or her respective qualifying event. 

Players earning eligibility at USDGC Regional Qualifiers have 30 days to submit an application for entry along with full payment to guarantee their spot in the field. This time period begins immediately following the completion of each respective event. Incomplete applications, or those sent without full payment will not be accepted.

Section 2. Global Qualifying Events

The top 5 finishers from each event will become eligible for the 2004 Championship. Positions are guaranteed for 30 days following the completion of each qualifying event.

Section 3. State Representatives

PDGA State Coordinators may select one competitor to represent their state in the 2004 U.S. Championship. State Representative positions are guaranteed through August 1. Please contact your state coordinator for more information.

Section 4. Monday Qualifying

Individual qualifying rounds will be held at Winthrop on Monday, October 11. These rounds are open to the public.

Each of the five lowest rounds will earn a right to compete in 2004 US Championship. The fee per round is $50.00 per player. Players may play as many rounds as they choose. There is a $25.00 fee for each additional round. Those who qualify on Monday will be required to pay the full tournament entry fee of $225.00 immediately upon confirmation of eligibility. Only five spots will be available. In the case of a tie, a Monday evening, sudden death playoff will be held to determine the final position.

Section 5. Players Exempt from Regional Qualifying

The following players are exempt from regional qualifying. Exempt positions are guaranteed until March 30, 2004.

*Director exemptions can be assigned to a co-tournament director if approved by both the listed tournament director and the USDGC Organizing committee.

 Section 6. Special Invitations

The following champions will become eligible for entry following the completion of each respective event. Special invitation positions are guaranteed for 30 days after the event.

Section 7. Sponsor Exemptions

Select sponsors may be eligible to earn a position in the tournament field. All sponsorship inquiries and questions regarding sponsor exempt positions should be directed to the tournament office.

Section 8. Special Circumstances

The USDGC Organizing Committee reserves the right to select players based on his/her playing record and/or their contribution to the game.

Section 9. Entry Fees

An entry fee of $225.00 shall be paid by every player. Players earning eligibility through USDGC Regional Qualifiers have 30 days to submit an Application for Entry following the completion of their qualifying event. Entry fees may be charged to a VISA/MasterCard account through our online registration page or by calling the tournament office. There will be no refunds after October 13, 2004.
